(1) In the Karma Kagyu system of specific awareness/deep awareness (rnam-shes ye-shes), the aspect of mental activity that affects or acts on deep awareness so as to move it to give rise to cognitive appearances in general. (2) In a looser sense, awareness of the general features of an entire sensory or mental field that one cognizes, so that one gets an overview.
