Conceptual category

Redirected from Mental synthesis

(1) A general term for both audio categories (sgra-spyi) and meaning/object categories (don-spyi). As such, it is a static mental exclusion of what is other (blo'i gzhan-sel), an implicative negation phenomenon (ma-yin-dgag) that excludes or cuts off everything that does not fit in the category. (2) An imputation, somewhat like a set, for which the bases for imputation are the individual sensibilia of a commonsense object, the parts of any of the sensibilia of a commonsense object, the moments in the continuum of a commonsense object, or items sharing a common defining characteristic. It is a mental fabrication (mental construct) of individual items that are instances of it.
