Applying pathway mind

Redirected from Path of preparation

The second of the five pathway minds (five paths) leading to a purified state (Skt. bodhi) of a shravaka arhat, pratyekabuddha arhat or Buddha. The level of mind of shravakas, pratyekabuddhas and bodhisattvas, with which they apply the joined pair of shamatha and vipashyana, focused conceptually on voidness – or, in general, on the sixteen aspects of the four noble truths – to gaining a non-conceptual focus on voidness. They gained this joint pair with a building-up pathway mind (path of accumulation), the first of the five pathway minds.
