As of the beginning of the 2020’s, great progress has been made in the revival of Buddhism in Mongolia. The monastic facilities have been improved and expanded, and many new educational possibilities have become available for laypeople at the monasteries and at newly established Buddhist centers. The monasteries are now carrying out academic research on Buddhism. Further, 2023 saw the installation of the young Tenth Bogd as the traditional spiritual leader of Mongolia and of D. Jawzandorj as the new Head Abbot of Gandan Monastery and of Mongolian Buddhists as a whole.
