Shramana

(1) A renunciate mendicant from one of six ancient Indian orders, including Buddhism, which challenged the authority of the Brahmanic order. (2) In Buddhism, a monastic – a general term for fully ordained monks, fully ordained nuns, novice monks and novice nuns.
