Redirected from Maha-atiyoga

In the Nyingma system of nine vehicles, the third of the three classes of inner tantras, in which meditation practices to actualize the immediate causes for an enlightening mind and Form Body (Corpus of Forms) of a Buddha are emphasized. Equivalent to dzogchen. Sometimes referred to as "maha-atiyoga," to emphasize that a mahayoga visualization practice of a sadhana, similar to generation stage practice in anuttarayoga tantra, is necessary before formal atiyoga practice of dzogchen.
