Grasping for an impossible "soul" of phenomena

In the Mahayana tenet systems, the mind, focused on any validly knowable phenomenon, giving rise to an appearance of it as existing in the manner refuted by that tenet system and, with incorrect consideration and unawareness (ignorance), taking its mode of appearance to correspond to its actual mode of existence.
