Equivalent to "Bodhisattva." Bodhisattvas are offspring or children of the Buddhas, in the sense that they are born from the Buddhas' teachings. Nevertheless, bodhisattvas are also the causes for someone becoming a Buddha, in the sense that before becoming a Buddha, one is a bodhisattva and one can be taught by other bodhisattvas.
