Axiom of establishment by reason

Redirected from Principle of evidence

The principle that something is established or proven to be true if a valid means of knowing does not contradict it and, therefore, to understand certain phenomena and gain confidence that they are correct and true one needs to investigate whether straightforward cognition, logic, inference or scriptural authority contradicts it. One of the four axioms (rigs-pa bzhi) employed when thinking about something in order to understand it.
