In the Nyingma tradition, one of the three lines of transmission of the inner three classes of tantra (mahayoga tantra, anuyoga tantra and atiyoga tantra), received orally from the teachings of a great master, such as Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) or Vimalamitra.
