Revelation of a teaching, text or practice by a Buddha, Buddha-figure (yidam) or lineage founder to a highly realized master. There are three kinds: (1) those that arise from meditative experiences, (2) those that arise in dreams, and (3) those that arise directly to sensory consciousness – actually seeing and hearing a Buddha-figure while awake, not while dreaming or in meditation.
